    Birds and Wildlife

Cozy Cove is home to many birds.  The surrounding trees provide shelter to a variety songbirds whose melodies make for a relaxing and interesting way to start the day.  The cooing of the turtle doves is especially soothing. Ducks, geese and other waterbirds congregate near the water.  Hawks and buzzards soar high overhead on thermal updrafts.  If you are a bird-watcher you will be busy spotting the many different species that populate the area.  Bring your binoculars and cameras!

Other wildlife occasionally seen in Cozy Cove are deer, squirrels, foxes, and armadillos.  Also noteworthy are the butterflies that are attracted to the blooms during wildflower season.

Speaking of wildflowers, Cozy Cove is blanketed in bluebonnets, Indian paintbrushes, and other blooms throughout the spring months.




    Fishing

Cozy Cove is also perfectly situated to enjoy great fishing.  Commonly caught fish include bass,
crappie and catfish.  Be sure to bring your fishing license and poles!  




    Hiking
Hiking is fun at Cozy Cove.  A secluded and wooded  trail extends up the hill to a small spring, and is a perfect place to see wildlife and connect with nature.  Additional small roads on the property allow you to hike down the hill to the water and the sandy beach.   See the Cozy Cove map for hiking paths.

Biking

Nearby Pace Bend Park is an excellent place to go bicycle riding with many park roads to explore and abundant scenery to enjoy.  The Austin area in general has several good biking venues for both the recreational and serious rider.  So bring your wheels and get back in the saddle!

Stargazing

The stars at night are clear and bright, down at Cozy Cove!  On a clear, dark night you can see thousands of
stars, making for a beautiful and tranquil evening.  Also not to be missed are the spectacular sunrises and sunsets at Cozy Cove.  If you are an amateur astronomer, bring your telescope or binoculars!
